MKSworks, Ltd. was incorporated in Massachusetts after an employment layoff in 1998. With a love of manufacturing and an abundance of hobbies, the 2 were combined into a small manufacturing firm making just one product - our Kuillow(tm). Our focus was on incorporating local manufacturers in our products as much as possible. From there our company has moved on to making some pillows and consulting in manufacturing systems. In the summer/fall of 2008 we began to make scarves and Skrunch-Kiss-Kaps(tm) from Malden Mills' fleece. We were already working on developing a small retail outlet combining our resources with JLS Design, a printer, and Spaz Productions, a recording studio, when the economy started to tank in late 2008. We decided to upgrade our operation to incorporate any (legal) consumer-related product we could find that is made in the US.
It has been, and still is, an interesting search. There are prolific hobbiests to multi-national conglomerates that still manufacture in the US. Several multi-nationals have been very supportive of our effort to ONLY sell what they make here in the US. For all products we offer, there is no fee to the supplier to join our website. Some of our items are purchased and stocked, some are on consignment, some are one time only, some are click throughs, some we manufacture ourselves and stock, and some are finished or made to order. If you produce a product, but not enough to sell to Wal-Mart or other chain, contact us. Our store allows area residents or visitors to come in and browse, check the brands and the quality, think about it and comeback to buy either at the store or on our site.
